Sanguine Calamity
I've spent a lot of time on AOL, going on about twenty years now maybe? So I've seen and done a lot of things. And I've grown a taste for certain things, and a disdain for others. I'll go on ahead and say that I miss the old ways of doing things. RP on AOL use to be so much fun. Chat rooms were booming and smut players were a minority. Typically left to fester in private rooms. Or the corners of AOL that no real Rper ventured to. But now it seems things have flipped quite a bit. It's an annoyance to be sure, but it could be worse. Real RP on AOL could be completely dead. In which case I'd be pretty sad. I'm someone who seeks long term IMRP. I'm an action oriented type of person. I like RPs that have a lot of fighting. Moderate gore (but don't go overboard) and a lot of others aspects that would fall in line with adventurous rps. Medieval fantasy is a setting that never fails to sate my lust for adventurous storylines. Give me anything with warriors, gladiators, pirates, assassins or things along those lines. And I'll love you forever. Another draw for me would be wasteland or post apocalyptic rps. Just like medieval fantasy it gives way to a lot of possibilities for adventure. I'm always open for compromise though. If there is something specific that you want to do then just tell me. I'm very flexible when it comes to getting an SL off of the ground. Other elements that are fine in SLs are romance (low to moderate) and sex (low to moderate). But these things are secondary elements to RP for me. Meaning plot and adventure will always take the forefront. Romance is fine but can slow down an RP considerably. Sex/smut can be fun but most people don't know how to take it in moderation. It's a slippery slope for most, you do it once and then that's all they'll want to do. And the rp will slowly but surely degrade into just pure smut, which I loathe. I stick to RPing females more often than not. But I'm always willing to venture into the male roles. I do find them a bit entertaining from time to time. Also I should go ahead and say that all of my characters will be Bisexual. This is to allow easier pairings when it comes to RP. If you have a problem with that then I can make a male character. And if you have a problem with that? Then...not sure what to tell you.
No Pics?
Yes that's right, I do not use pictures for my characters. Why? Because it forces people to do one of two things. It forces them to either read the character profile, and decide who they want to play with based on their story. Or will just make them go off and look for other people RPers who have big breasted pics for their characters. I'm fine with it no matter the outcome. Especially since if you're the latter then I have no interest in playing with you to begin with. Which means you're saving me the time of telling you that. And saving me the time of talking to you. Bitchy? Perhaps a little but that's just how I feel.
Do's
* Contribute: Seriously it's one of my biggest problems with today's community. Contribution in an RP is crucial to the longevity of the rp. If I'm the only one doing EVERYTHING. Then the rp will grind to a halt rather quick.
* Make An attempt: By this I mean when you post? At least attempt to make it a little lengthy. And if you can't manage that. Then at least make it worth the read. Quality over quantity is a must. But a little quantity never hurt anyone.
* IM/Email me Ideas: Honestly I love when people just IM me and toss out whatever ideas that they want to try out. Yes I do have ideas myself. But for the most part I enjoy hearing what other people want. I am the type of person that tries to please their RP partners. And if you have something you want to play out. I can try to make it happen. As long as it doesn't fall into my line of "don'ts"
* Talk about comics/anime/video games: I am a huge nerd I must say. And comics, anime and video games are always up for discussion in my eyes. I'm not all about just RPing. Sometimes I do enjoy talking and getting to know the person I'm playing with
Don'ts
*Just start: Please don't just start and RP. I like to work things about before an SL is truly started. I believe that there are some things that need to be worked out. Before an RP can really begin. No I don't want to plot everything out. But I'd like to at least get a base plot figured out.
*IM me with A/S/L: It's one of the most annoying things in my eyes. I understand that people want to make sure you're legal. But honestly I think anyone who is still around here RPing is of legal age. I'll just say it now, I'm of legal age. And that's all anyone needs to know.
*Pitch me smut: Smut RP is a huge no no with me. I believe there is a difference between smut play and sex in rp. Smut is when all you do is RP out sex scenes. And sex in rp is....well it's sex in rp. It comes around every now and then. Sometimes it helps with character development. And can even push a story to a degree. But it's never meant to be the main focus of anything.
*Give me attitude: Seriously I can be a real bitch if I need to be. But I'd rather not take it to that level. Sometimes I have my away message up for quite some time. But that's because I have a lot of things that I do around my house. I have a lot of free time that's true. But I also have times where I'm doing things for people.
*Try to force things on me: Whenever I RP things from comics, video games, or anime. I tend to enjoy playing my own personal characters. I enjoy creating my own characters. And putting them into these canon worlds. If you don't like that then we don't have to play it. But don't try to force me into playing characters that I have no interest in playing. Also don't try to force SLs or group SLs on me. If I say no then that means I'm not interested. If you don't like it? Then I'm sorry but that's just too bad.
*Ask me to join a group SL: I am 100% done with group SLs. They are never worth the effort. And they end within two weeks or so. And I'd really rather not put up with it anymore. I'm not putting all that effort into an SL that has a quickly expiring shelf life.
*IM me about dice RP: This is something I never thought I'd actually have to put something up about. But I've had a few instances of people IMing me about using dice in our RPs. Dice were dumb when they were heavily used back in the day. And they are still dumb today. If you can't work out how to do combat scenes with your partner then maybe you shouldn't be RPing?
